Tree Board earns Growth Award for Bridgeport

The Bridgeport City Council accepted the resignation of long-time Street Superintendent Dave Smith during the regular council meeting on Thursday night last week. Smith is retiring after 37 years of service to the City of Bridgeport. An open house was held in his honor on Friday afternoon.

Mayor Beyer signed two proclamations: the first to proclaim April 22 as Arbor Day and the second to proclaim May 4, as National Day of Prayer.Tree Board member Susan Myers presented the city with the Growth Award that the Arbor Day Foundation gifted the city. This award will aid in future grants to the city for trees, and recognizes the work by tree board members, and the community’s effort to continue planting trees for our children’s future.
