Richard John Lockman, Sr., 84, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023, at home. His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Bridgman Funeral Home in Scottsbluff, with Pastor Rick Reisig officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Scottsbluff. A viewing will be held on hour prior to the funeral. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Richard’s honor be made in care of the Gering American Legion Post #36. Richard was born August 20, 1938, in Milwaukee,Wisconsin, to Jacob (Jack) and Rose (Burbach) Lockman. He quit school at the age of 14 to help support the family as a farmhand.
He met the love of his life, Patty Ann Dike, and they were married June 1, 1961. He was drafted into the Army soon after they were married, and served at Fort Carson in Colorado, Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland and in Germany.While in the service he served as Military Police (MP), of which he was very proud.
