Local man receives Quilt of Valor in ceremony

Bridgeport man Lyle Heine was awarded a Quilt of Valor last week in a ceremony at his home near Northport.The quilt was designed, pieced together, and bound by Margaret Lienemann of Alliance and was quilted by Chris Wolf of Scottsbluff. As of April 30, 2023, there have been 345,465 quilts presented to veterans across the country.

Bridgeport man Lyle Heine was awarded a Quilt of Valor last week in a ceremony at his home near Northport.The quilt was designed, pieced together, and bound by Margaret Lienemann of Alliance and was quilted by Chris Wolf of Scottsbluff. As of April 30, 2023, there have been 345,465 quilts presented to veterans across the country.

Quilts of Valor are hand or machine quilted, given to a service member or veteran who has been touched by war.The quilt is a recognition to say thank you to the recipient, for service to their nation. Each quilt is constructed a specific size, labeled with the name and quilt number, and recorded to the foundation.

Lyle Heine was a member of the United States Army from February 15, 1966, until February 14, 1969. He was stationed at Fort Hood,Texas, for a time, and served his county in Vietnam. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
