Morrill County Sheriff Deputy Brennan Andrew was in Lincoln last month to receive one of the 2023 Mothers Against Drunk Driving Nebraska Hero Awards. Andrew was recognized for his individual record of making eight Driving Under the Influence arrests in Morrill County in one year.Two of these arrests had a confirmed breath alcohol level over 0.150% and another arrest was the fourth offense for the suspect. Deputy Andrew cited one minor for Minor in Possession of Alcohol and Possession of an Open Alcohol Container.
According to his supervisor, Deputy Mike Cerny, “Andrew showed great motivation for protecting the citizens of Morrill County from drunk drivers and his actions reflect greatly upon himself and the Morrill County Sheriff’s Office.” Deputy Andrew, a rookie in his first year in law enforcement as a certified officer, makes Bridgeport a safer community, as well as the entire county.
During the May 23 ceremony, remarks were given by Bill Kovarik, Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Administrator, and Tess Rowland, Mother’s Against Drunk Driving National President. Keynote speaker was Colonel Ron Replogle, retired. Nineteen awards were earned in Andrew’s category, the Adult Driving Under the Influence and Driving While Intoxicated Individual category. Others were awarded for the Adult Driving Under the Influence and Driving While Intoxicated team effort, Drug Recognition Expert, Education and Awareness, Minors in Possession Enforcement of an Individual and Probation of an Individual.The event was presented in collaboration with the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office and Atwood Law.
