Kathleen Marie Benepe, 77

Kathleen “Kathy” Marie Benepe, 77, of Bridgeport, Nebraska, loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, left our world on Friday, July 26, at 8:30 p.m., surrounded by family. Her Mass of Christian Burial was held on August 1, 2024, at All Soul’s Catholic Church in Bridgeport, with Father Tim Stoner as Celebrant.

Services were livestreamed on the Bridgman Funeral Home Facebook page. A graveside ceremony will be held at her final resting place in Hayward, Wisconsin, at a date yet to be determined. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Kathleen’s honor be made in care of the church. Kathy was born on June 21, 1947, in Spokane,Washington, and later lived in Chula Vista, California. She married Jim Young in 1966, with whom she had three children.

In 1996 she was living and working in Hayward,Wisconsin, when she met Mike Benepe, and after a short courtship, they were married on October 1st of that year.

Kathy was an outgoing, passionate person who could strike up a conversation with anyone. She always tried to include everyone and put a smile on every face she passed.

Kathy had a way of making new friends everywhere she went.

Kathy was deeply rooted in her faith and worshipped at her church in Bridgeport.

Kathy was an avid baseball fan and spent much of her time supporting her favorite team, the Los Angeles Dodgers. From an early age Kathy was able to attend games in person, collect memorabilia, and rarely missed watching a game on television.

She was also a big fan of Elvis Presley. She loved his music, movies, and collecting any memorabilia related to the king.

More than anything Kathy loved spending time with her family and friends.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Fox, mother, Marie (Brodeur) Fox, and daughter, Jacqueline Palechek.

Kathy is survived by her husband Michael Benepe of Bridgeport, brother Daniel Fox, sister Darleen Huseby, daughter Louise Fogal, sons JamesYoung and RobertYoung, granddaughters Jeana Schaefer, Danielle Carpenter, Alicia Young, and KaciYoung, grandsons Stevie Palechek, Andrew Young, JamesYoung, Donald Fogal, Eric Fogal, Jerry Fogal, and IsaacYoung, as well as 20 great-grandchildren.
