Dennis Albert Stevens, 77
Dennis was born March 6, 1947, to Albert and Anna (Frerichs) Stevens in Sidney, Nebraska. He attended elementary school in Broadwater and went to high school in Oshkosh and then Bridgeport. Dennis enlisted in the Army in 1966 and was later stationed in Germany as a mechanic. He was then transferred to El Paso,TX, and was honorably discharged in 1969. Dennis was married and to that union his son,Timothy Deaune Stevens, was born.
Dennis worked for many area farmers and had his own custom farming business. He received his Mechanics Certificate from Sioux Ordinance Depot in Sidney. He was also a mechanic at Bob’s Auto. He later met and married Thelma Fulton on June 4, 1983, and they spent 38 years together until her death on November 11, 2021.
Dennis was an avid sports fan. He followed the Bulldogs sports teams in all of the sports that they played. He loved watching his son and grandchildren on the hardwood and in the swimming pool. He was honored as the B Club Booster of the year in 2007-2008.
Dennis also loved to be outside.You could find him in his camper out at the lakes where he was fishing. He also enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes and working on perfecting his smoked baby back ribs—and sometimes they were not so good.
In the last few years, Dennis would drive his scooter over to his son’s house where they would work together to grind meat and make German sausages, which Dennis loved.
He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church and the Eagles.
Dennis is survived by his son Tim (Michelle) Stevens; stepson Mike (Jennifer) Fulton of Crete; grandchildren Ashley (Jake) Fenning of Bayard, Eric (Kendra) Stevens of Hastings, Broc Fulton of Crete, Bret Fulton of Crete, Andy Landon of Bridgeport, and Josh Moss of Alliance; great-grandchildren Carson Fenning and Cameron Stevens; brothers Dale Stevens and Norman (Delores) Stevens; sisters Marlys (Percy) Hansen, Sharon Kemplin, and Susan (Kenny) Wiegers; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, wife Thelma, brothers Marvin, David, and Dean Stevens, stepdaughters Chris (Milton) Moss, Karen Landon, and stepsons Wand, Dan, and Kevin Fulton.
