She was born January 14, 1958, in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, to James Downing and Linda Leftwich. She married Paul Carter in 2016, and loved being a homemaker and farm girl in Nebraska.

She loved hiking, museums, traveling to learn about history, and anything with her kids. She was always very kind and helpful to anyone around her, and most of all loved the Lord.

Surviving family members include son Ricky, daughter Christa, son Erick, daughter Breanna, son-in-law Trevor, daughter-in-law Carmen, brother David, sister Judy, mother Linda, father James, grandchildren Cody, Brian, Caleb, Courtney, Nathan, Naomi and Olivia.

She was preceded in death by her brother Jimmy and her husband Paul.

Services were held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Church of Christ in Bridgeport, with Pastor Jonathan Seng officiating. Interment followed at Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery. Fond memories and condolences may be left at www.bridgeportmemorialchapel. com.
