Ronald Albert Garska was born June 21, 1941, in Burwell, Nebraska, to Harold and Waive Valene (Harris) Garska. Ronald grew up on a ranch west of Taylor, NE, attending school in Taylor and graduating from Loup County High School in 1959.
Ronald served his country in the United States Army from 1964-1966 and was stationed in Vietnam during the war. Upon returning to the United States, he became a driver’s license examiner for the state of Nebraska in Omaha and was later transferred to Bridgeport, NE.
On May 20, 1966, he was united in marriage to Julia Ann Harris in Burwell, NE.To this union, two children were born, Ronald Travis and Stacey Lynn Garska.
In 1967 they moved to Bridgeport where Ronald lived until his death.While in Bridgeport, he was employed as a driver’s license examiner, later as a police officer, and lastly the chief of police until his retirement.
Ron loved his children. He loved to hunt, and hunting seasons were spent in the mountains of Wyoming, the sandhills of Nebraska and many winter days sitting in the goose blind near his home. He also enjoyed coffee with friends in the morning and looked forward to that each day.
He will be missed by his children, Ronald (Stephanie), and Stacey Garska; sister Elaine (David) Eberle and her family, and many other relatives, including Teresa (Roger) Sinner and their family and Melissa (Greg) Freeman and their family. Ron’s constant companion was “Rusty,” the dog he spent every minute with and who will be buried at his side.
Passing before him in death were his parents, Harold and Waive, sister SharonFreeman, brother-in-law David Eberle and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
