Bridgeport schools hosted the Nebraska School Activities Association girls District 4 wrestling tournament this past weekend, February 3-4, with Bridgeport landing in the 14th place spot out of thirty schools from across the state. Norfolk girls earned first, while Lexington took second and Chadron third.

For the third straight year, the Bridgeport Lady Bulldogs captured the championship of the Western Trails Conference basketball tournament. In dominating fashion, Bridgeport blew out both of its opponents in the tournament at Western Nebraska Community College’s Cougar Palace in claiming a second conference tournament title after winning the South Platte Valley Association crown just a couple weeks ago.

The Bridgeport girls and boys basketball teams wrapped up another busy week with a sweep of Morrill County rival Bayard on Saturday at Bridgeport High School. Bridgeport, which has dominated the Tigers on the hardwood in recent years, picked up double-digit wins in both contests. Thanks to a 28-0 run to open the game, the undefeated Lady Bulldogs cruised to a 77-16 win.

Bridgeport comes together to house bus load of stranded university students

What was supposed to be an organized potluck and overnight homestay turned into a two-night, three-day endeavor for those involved with the Doane University Choir tour.The university students were to be housed with several area families after their concert in Bridgeport Tuesday night, January 17, and returned to the school by 7:30 Wednesday morning. However, the wild winter weather rendered that plan useless.
