The Leyton Lady Warriors walloped the Potter-Dix Coyotes last Thursday at the home sub district game with a final score of 62-17.

The Bridgeport Board of Education held their regular meeting on February 12, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. in the high school library. All board members were present, and by a vote of 6-0, the consent agenda which included the approval of minutes, financial reports, bill and payroll. Demi Lapaseotes made a presentation for FFA while Sharon Endorf presented for NASB.The collective bargaining agreement with the BEA for the 2024-25 school year was considered and approved.This represents a 4.8% increase on the base plus the cash-in-lieu amount.The board considered and approved offering a contract to Derrick Wells to teach Elementary PE for the 20242025 school year.

A proposal to modify Bridgeport city code was considered by the city council Tuesday evening on first reading. The existing code states that the owner or occupant of any lot or piece of ground within the city limits or within the city’s one-mile zoning jurisdiction shall keep the lot or piece of ground and adjoining street and alley free of any growth of eight inches or more in height of weeds, grasses, or worthless vegetation.

Bridgeport—Lewis Coulter, Community President of Platte Valley Bank in Bridgeport, presented a check February 8 for $100,000 to the Morrill County Building Champions Committee to help reach their goal to build a new exhibit hall and livestock pavilion at the Morrill County Fairgrounds. Groundbreaking is set for August of 2024.

For the second time this season, the Bridgeport basketball teams made a championship sweep of a conference tournament.

The Leyton Warriors have been busy on the basketball court the last couple of weeks, defeating Banner County at home on Tuesday, January 23 by a score of 60-43.

Bridgeport was the site of the Western Trails Conference, South Platte Valley Association, Minuteman Activities Conference, and the combination PAC wrestling tournament last Thursday. The Bulldogs placed seventh overall out of seventeen teams, with 85 points.

Three Broadwater men were nominated by Unit 312 Broadwater Legion Auxiliary for a Quilt of Valor, and each were awarded a quilt during a recent ceremony in Broadwater.The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is, “To cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.”
