LINCOLN— The passage of the next Farm Bill is imperative to the continued success of agriculture and is top of mind for producers in Nebraska and across the country.That was one of the key messages Nebraska Farm Bureau (NEFB)Young Farmers and Ranchers (YF&R) Committee members shared with the Nebraska congressional delegation during their annual fly-in to Washington, D.C.

LINCOLN—Morrill County has received another membership dividend, this time in the amount of $5,814, from the Nebraska Intergovernmental Risk Management Association II (NIRMA II), the county’s workers’ compensation coverage and risk management services provider. The dividend was part of a planned $1 million distribution shared with 83 Nebraska counties and eight county-associated agencies during NIRMA’s annual membership meeting on Oct. 19-20 in Kearney.

For just the second time in school history, the Bridgeport football team advanced in the state playoffs with a 70-20 thumping of Alma in a Class D-1 first-round home game lastThursday.

A six-game winning streak to conclude the regular season resulted in another state playoff berth for the Bridgeport High School football team.

The Bridgeport Lady Bulldogs took third place at the Southern Platte Valley Association’s conference tournament on Saturday, beating out Perkins County in two sets, but falling to Chase County, also in two sets.

The Leyton Lady Warriors battled their way towards the top of a four-game tournament on Saturday, ending up in the runner up spot behind champion team Bayard.The girls competed in the Minuteman Athletic Conference volleyball tournament, hosted in Bridgeport.

The Bridgeport Board of Education held their regular meeting on October 10 at 8:00 p.m. in the high school library. All board members were present with the exception of Linda Norman who was excused.There were three action items; the first was Senator Erdman speaking on taxes and state aid.The second was the approval of the board for the district to continue participating in eight-man football for an additional two year cycle. This was approved by a 5-0 vote.The third item was the consideration to accept the resignation of Craig Johnson effective at the end of the 2023-2024 school year.The board approved his resignation with a 5-0 vote.
