Leyton’s speech team brought home several medals from the Minuteman Activities Conference last week

For the third straight year, the Bridgeport girls basketball team returned home with a trophy from the state tournament in Lincoln.The Lady Bulldogs earned a third-place finish in Class C-1, concluding their record-setting season with a final record of 26-1.The 26 wins tied the school record for most in a season. Last year’s team also totaled 26 wins.

Playing in a district championship for a sixth year in a row, the Bridgeport boys basketball team couldn’t overcome a big and veteran-led Howells-Dodge opponent in the D1-6 final on Monday evening in Lexington. The Jaguars put their size and experience to good use in pulling away for a 56-34 win to secure a berth into next week’s state tournament in Lincoln.The Bulldogs concluded their season with a final record of 16-10.

For a record-setting third consecutive year, the Bridgeport girls basketball team qualified for the Nebraska state tournament. The undefeated Bulldogs improved to 24-0 with a dominating 71-41 victory over Douglas County West in the Cl-2 district final last Friday in Kearney.

For the first time since 1983, and only the fourth time in school history, Leyton girls have punched their ticket to state after knocking off a bigger and taller team of Parkview Christian, Lincoln, last week at Brady, 46-29.
