“Khumbaya” reverberated off the walls inside Heckman Auditorium at Doane University in Crete on Monday night with four Bridgeport students singing along with the Honor Choir there. In front of a standing-room-only audience, Drew Leisy, Kaitlynn Moore, Delaney Pohl, and Eden Strawn participated in singing five pieces to the packed crowd.

Bridgeport girls took first place at the Bayard wrestling triangular last Thursday night, defeating Bayard 30-24, and Mitchell, 30-15.

Thomas M. Moreno, 48, of Bridgeport, Nebraska, died peacefully in his home on January 1, 2023.

Linda F. Lenzen, 90, of Sidney, Nebraska, passed away Monday, January 2, 2023, in Sidney. A Rosary Service was held January 6, 2023, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sidney with Father Lou Nollette officiating. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney. It was an early wake up call for a semi-truck driver who plowed through part of the building at the long empty Lazy U Motel in Broadwater early Tuesday morning

Leyton Warrior boys took the championship spot following their win over Perkins County on Friday during the Perkins County Holiday Tournament in Grant this past weekend. Both Leyton teams played Perkins for the championship after beating out Wallace and South Platte. The girls finished in second place for runner up.

Linda Dormann, 73, of Oshkosh, Nebraska, passed away Thursday morning, December 29, 2022, at her home.

Robert A. Ketteler, 89, of Dalton, Nebraska, went to be with his Lord on Friday, December 30, 2022. A Rosary Service will be at 9:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dalton, with Father Tim Stoner officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Dalton. Visitation will be held at 9:30 prior to the Rosary at the church.
