Bridgeport senior Grace Dean continued her impressive start to the track and field season by claiming another firstplace finish in the shot put at the Mitchell Invitational held last Thursday. Dean heaved the iron ball 37 feet, 6 inches to out-distance Gordon-Rushville’s McKinley Grover, who finished second with a mark of 37 feet.

The Bridgeport and Leyton track and field teams fared well at the Bayard CD Invitational held last Thursday in Bayard.

KEARNEY—University of Nebraska at Kearney students won six events and once again claimed the top chapter award during a statewide business competition.

WESTCO is pleased to announce 18 area scholarship recipients for the 2023-24 WESTCO Scholarship Program, from 15 high schools within the WESTCO trade area. Recipients will each receive a $1,000 scholarship to further their education. Elisabeth (Betty) Reuter, 97, of Bridgeport, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Morrill County Community Hospital. Per her request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on April 27, 2024, at the Church of Christ, located at 314 W. 7th Street in Bridgeport. The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) is pleased to announce the student recipients of the Winter 2023-2024 Nebraska Chiropractic Physicians Association (NCPA) Academic All-State Awards.
