Murals on Main begins downtown

The Bridgeport Downtown Appearance Committee has commissioned Lauren Olson Art of Oshkosh, Nebraska, to complete a mural on the south side of the Mi Puerto building on the corner of 11th and Main Streets. The first of potentially four murals was begun last week, with Olson and friend Julia Chestnut, who happened to be in town for the weekend, working in the early mornings and late afternoons to beat the heat of the day.

Five Bridgeport FFA members were selected to attend the Nebraska Agricultural Youth Institute as delegates July 1114 in Lincoln at the East Campus of the University of Nebraska. Bulldogs who attended the event were Demi Lapaseotes, Delaney Pohl, Justin Dobrinski, Bethany Nichols, and Mackenzie Liakos.

It was another action-packed Camp Clarke Stampede Rodeo last week at Bridgeport’s Morrill County Fairgrounds.The annual event took place July 3-4 and once again featured many of the region’s top rodeo talent.

Farm families need college to stay affordable

The deadline for Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms for the 20232024 academic year recently closed on June 30th. FAFSA is the form students and prospective students fill out to apply for grants, work-study, and low-interest loans from the U.S. Department of Education. Before the next FAFSA application cycle opens up on October 1, there is a critical error that Congress must fix to ensure farm families can continue to receive fair consideration of their applications for aid.
