Junior high school students who attended teen night at the library last week

The opening week of the season was a busy one with a pair of tournaments for the Bridgeport boys golf team. After teeing off in the season-opening Mitchell Invitational last Tuesday, the Bulldogs hosted their home tournament on Thursday at Court House and Jail Rock Golf Course. Bridgeport put its home-course advantage to good use by earning a second-place finish.

The American Legion Post 301 and Squadron 301, Sons of The American Legion of Dalton are pleased to announce that Jonathan Kruse and Kaleb Borges have been sponsored to attend Cornhusker Boys State. These juniors from Leyton High School will join nearly 250 other high school juniors from across Nebraska participating June 4-10, 2023, at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln downtown campus. This annual citizenship program sponsored by the Nebraska American Legion is designed to provide youth with a better understanding of how city, county, and state governments operate.

Bridgeport band and choir students gave a special performance to the public on Tuesday night last week when they played solo and ensemble pieces in the high school library. Beginning with a mixed ensemble singing “Patch of Light,” and continuing in alternating fashion, the musicians entertained the listeners until the final women’s ensemble of “Bring Me A Little Water, Sylvie.”

It was an Arabian night to remember for Aladdin, (Isaac Dean), in Bridgeport last weekend trying to find a date to the prom, when he stumbled into a cave of (not so great) wonders and found a magic lamp.The genie that came to his rescue offered him three wishes, which he used to meet Princess Dory (Emily Hunter).With the Mysterious One, (Alexis Colton), trying to steal the lamp from Aladdin, and the story changing to the whims of the sisters Scheherazade (Mila Soto) and Dinazade (Elia Strawn), who has the book of answers, telling the story, it was an event to remember.
