Last week, Bridgeport sent six wrestlers to the mats at the state championship meet in Omaha.While none of the Bulldogs stood on the podium to receive medals, several worked their way toward the top before falling short of a title.

Four Bridgeport boys gave it all they had in the Heartbreaker round of the Nebraska State Athletic Association Class D district 4 wrestling tournament held at Sutherland over the weekend.

Crystal “Crys” A. Schaffer, 66, of Bayard, Nebraska, passed away peacefully Friday, February 10, 2023, at her home with her family by her side.

Cindy Jean Leisy, 66, of Bayard, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

Families, schools, and teachers do a lot to support Nebraska kids, but sometimes they need more.That is where mentors fill the gap.They provide guidance, a hand on the shoulder, a source of support, and more. Nebraska has many such programs. Unfortunately, the need for mentors far outnumbers those who are available.

The Bridgeport Board of Education held their regular meeting on February 13th with all board members present along with Mr. Lambert, Mr. Schlothauer, Mr. Simmons and Ms. Vonnie Brown. There were three representatives from the Region 1 Behavior Health Authority to present the board with the services they offer in the Panhandle.
