Legislative session ending as it began, with loud controversy

Bridgeport man Lyle Heine was awarded a Quilt of Valor last week in a ceremony at his home near Northport.The quilt was designed, pieced together, and bound by Margaret Lienemann of Alliance and was quilted by Chris Wolf of Scottsbluff. As of April 30, 2023, there have been 345,465 quilts presented to veterans across the country.

Students from Bridgeport High School put on their spring play two weeks ago, the final high school production for seniors Claire Linders and Drew Leisy, who have been acting side-byside since their elementary days in the Lions Club talent shows.

Fine Arts Night held May 9

Ronald J. Myers of Bridgeport, Nebraska passed away unexpectedly on May 15, 2023, at the age of 81. A Celebration of his life was held Monday, May 22, with Pastor Jonathan Seng officiating. Military honors were provided by the Nebraska Army National Guard and Sons of the American Legion Post, Bridgeport. His ashes were buried in the Mitchell Cemetery in Mitchell, NE. Frances S. Chacon, 88, of Bayard, Nebraska, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023, in Lincoln. Her Rosary will be held 9:15 a.m., Friday, May 26, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bayard, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., with Father Timothy Stoner officiating.
