Bridgeport Elementary and Junior High perform ‘Aladdin’

It was an Arabian night to remember for Aladdin, (Isaac Dean), in Bridgeport last weekend trying to find a date to the prom, when he stumbled into a cave of (not so great) wonders and found a magic lamp. The genie that came to his rescue offered him three wishes, which he used to meet Princess Dory (Emily Hunter). With the Mysterious One, (Alexis Colton), trying to steal the lamp from Aladdin, and the story changing to the whims of the sisters Scheherazade (Mila Soto) and Dinazade (Elia Strawn), who has the book of answers, telling the story, it was an event to remember.

Library hosts second teen-only event

“The second teen event at Bridgeport Public Library was a little quieter than the first, but not lacking in fun,” said Library Director Melissa Butler when five junior high and high school students attended a Cricut discovery event on Thursday night last week. Students learned how to use Cricut software and use the machine to cut colored vinyl and apply it to a black plastic tumbler to take home. All supplies, including the Cricut, were supplied through the Youth Excellence Grant from the Nebraska Library Commission. Imagination was supplied by the youth.

Investing in future leaders
Investing in future leaders

This spring I have been delighted to greet so many young Nebraskans from the Third District visiting Washington on school and family trips. It is always inspiring to see their patriotic curiosity in government service and hear the hopefulness in their questions. I have also appreciated the opportunity to visit several schools and learning centers during my travels in the Third District. Nebraska has a strong tradition of investment in younger generations, and I am always grateful to meet the dedicated sponsors and educators who invest in these students every day. The importance of building up our nation’s future leaders cannot be overstated, and there are several ways I seek to accomplish this through my office.
