Simmons is new volleyball coach
Grace (Kraay) Simmons is Bridgeport’s new volleyball coach. Simmons played volleyball for the University of Rochester in New York from 2001-2005. She was the team’s libero and defensive specialist, and currently holds the second highest record for digs per set and third highest digs per season in the university’s history. Prior to that, Simmons was the setter for the Bridgeport Bulldogs. After college, she found a passion for sand volleyball, where her team won Houston’sThird Coast co-ed volleyball league.

Shelley Lummel, 59
A fighter until the end, at the age of just 59, Shelley Lummel has lost a long-term health battle. On December 30, 2023, Shelley was taken into the Lord’s embrace and left this physical world, but never our hearts. A memorial service will be held on January 6, 2024, at the Church of Christ in Bridgeport, Nebraska, at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Jonathan Seng presiding. The family requests that guests wear something casual with lots of colors to celebrate Shelley’s colorful life.
