LINCOLN—The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) has remaining funds available for Nebraska schools and licensed child care facilities to sample for lead in their drinking water. All public, parochial, and private schools from pre-K through high school, and public and inhome child care facilities qualify. County fair contract continues to be a sticking point

The ongoing issue of the county fairground lease from the Morrill County Rodeo, Farm and Ranch Association was revisited at the county commissioners’ meeting on Tuesday. Commissioner Jeff Metz stated he has been working closely with the fair board and the association to make this the best scenario for our youth. Flag retirement ceremony added to County Government Day

Seniors from Bridgeport and Bayard High School spent last Tuesday at the Morrill County Courthouse for some hands-on lessons about county government. Students spent the morning touring the several offices inside the courthouse: the county and district clerk’s offices, the assessor office, the veteran’s office, and the election office. They also saw big equipment and met with men from the road department. For the first time in forty years, Leyton girls basketball team made their way last week to Lincoln to play in the Nebraska Sports Activities Association class D2 run for the state championship.
